Thank You, Governor Phil Bryant

Less than 2% of tornadoes are F-4 intensity. Yesterday, an F-4 tornado plowed through densely populated downtown Hattiesburg, Mississippi, and the campus of the University of Southern Mississippi. In spite of severe damage, there wasn't a single fatality.

No lives were lost and no one was unaccounted for. [Gov. Phil] Bryant and other officials said that was in part because tornado sirens gave people as much as 30 minutes of warning that a tornado was approaching.    --- Jackson, MS Clarion-Ledger

All meteorologists appreciate the recognition from Governor Bryant.

Yesterday's tornado was the type that used to cause scores of fatalities. The modern tornado warning system saves 1,000 to 2,000 lives in a typical year.

If you would like to read the gripping and fascinating story of how the amazing warning system came to be and the courageous weather scientists who created it, Warnings is the book for you.
Warnings has a 5-star rating at Amazon and has been praised by critics across North America.
